CONSTRICTED NOZZLE ENGINE The constricted tailpipe operates slightly different from those of flared,
shrouded, or ducted tialpipes. The explosion is followed by the generation of two expansion waves by
the reinforcement of the carryover shock for the preceding cycle. The shock reaches the front and closes
the valves and is reflected back slightly out of phase. The expansion wave arrives at the valves and
is also reflected. Pressure behind the valves decreases until the valves open and a new charges is drawn
in. The cold front reaches the constricted exit and the upstream propagating hammer waves is generated.
Almost simultaneously out of phase the reflected shock wave also reaches the constricted exit and is
reflected there is a compression wave. It must be remembered that the new intake charge must slowdown
so that combustion can take take place. It is between these two compression ways that the former shock
wave that precompresses the new charge. The configuration of this type pulsejet jet is different from
the other types being essentially a tube with the constricted tailpipe and valves. The fuel is injected
